Linda Laine has been on the faculty at Central College since 2004. Her doctoral research utilized ethnography and in-depth interviewing to investigate the experience and communication of emotion among hospital nurses. Laine enjoys guiding students in their own research and facilitating their application of theory to service learning, internships, and other projects. She teaches a wide array of courses including organizational, intercultural and health communication, as well as public relations and research methods.
In 2014 Laine was honored with the Engaged Campus Mission Award from the Iowa Campus Compact for the key role she has played in furthering Central’s mission of deepening campus civic and community engagement. In her free time, Laine enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading and watching films.
