This program is open to students who have completed three or more semesters of college-level Spanish. Improve your language proficiency while earning credit toward your Spanish major or minor through coursework in art, culture, history and literature. Through small tutoring sessions and cross-cultural workshops, only offered through Central, advance your language and cultural skills.
You have to take a total of 6 semester hours. There are courses of 45 hours for 3 semester credits, and courses of 22.5 hours for 1.5 semester credit. In order to complete the 6 credits, you can choose between:
Enjoy tree-shaded public squares, cobblestone pedestrian streets and the magnificent hilltop palace of the medieval Arab rulers of Granada, the Alhambra. The mountains of the Sierra Nevada and the beaches of the Mediterranean are both less than an hour away by public transportation.
Students live in a comfortable Spanish home with their host families, where they will experience complete immersion into the Spanish language and culture. Host families provide breakfast, lunch and dinner daily for Central College Abroad students. Most Spanish families take pride in their cooking and in their traditional Mediterranean cuisine.
In addition to overnight trips to the cities of Cordoba, Seville and the coastal town of Nerja, you will visit nearby sites to view the art and culture of Granada.
