“I love travel and hope to take my engineering experience with me around the world.”

Garret Taylor

Major: Physics

Why did you choose Central? I chose Central because I wanted to play tennis in college and Central seemed to be a good fit. I knew Central had good academic programs when making my decision. I also liked the nice campus and had heard good things about it.

What are your future goals? My future goal is to find a job quickly after graduation and begin working for an engineering company. I also love to travel and can’t wait to explore the world.

What activities do you participate in on and off campus? I am on the tennis team and am also a member of the physics and engineering club.

What has been your favorite class? I do not have a class that sticks out as my favorite, but I did take an anthropology class as a freshman and that has been the most unique by far.

Who has been your favorite professor? Why? My favorite professor is Viktor Martisovits. Up until this semester, I have had a class with him each semester since I was a first-year student and his energy and enthusiasm never fails to amaze me. He does a great job of explaining concepts. It is also encouraging to see how much time he spends working in his office after hours.

Have you done any internships? Do you plan to? I have yet to do an internship. This summer, however, I am hoping to find one. I think it would be a great experience that could lead to meeting new people and having a lot of fun.

Hobbies/interests: I have a love for physical activities. This includes all sports, fishing, swimming, hiking etc. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends and it never hurts to have some downtime to watch some movies or TV shows.

Favorite food in Central Market: I cannot pick just one food, so my favorite foods from Central Market are probably Mongolian on Friday’s, and fresh cookie Tuesday is a close second. However, don’t count out the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy.

What has been your favorite Central Memory so far? I have way too many memories to choose from to be able to narrow it down. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the memories I have made with my friends and teammates.

What do you like about your major? As I have come to realize, engineering is a very tough major and requires a lot of time and dedication. However, through the major, I have gotten to meet people who are now some of my best friends. I think that is awesome.

What book are you currently reading? As I mentioned earlier, engineering is pretty time consuming, so a good majority of the reading I do is out of my textbooks for class.

What are your plans after graduation? After graduation, I plan to spend some time with my family and friends before officially growing up and getting a job.
