Theatre

A letter of recommendation from a drama teacher or coach is required and should be brought with you at the time of your audition/interview.

Actors should select a monologue from a character close to your actual age. The monologue should be approximately one and a half minutes in length, reflecting an important moment in the play. Monologues must be memorized. Material must be drawn from published scripts written for theatre. One chair may be used. Props are not allowed. Introduce the audition by clearly stating your name, the name of the play, playwright and character you will be portraying. No synopsis of the play or scene is to be given.

A selection of plays should be available in your school library. You may have to edit the monologues to achieve the appropriate length. We strongly encourage you to read the entire play. Part of the interview will be a discussion of your character’s monologue and its context within the rest of the play.

Technical Theatre – Please submit a portfolio electronically. This may include programs or posters, any drawings, drafting samples, stage manager’s prompt book or design work, and pictures of productions

Audition/interview time takes 15-20 minutes.
