Michael Harris, professor of English at Central College, received his B.A. from Tulane University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Indiana University. A former Peace Corps volunteer (Nepal, 1979-81), he teaches a range of courses, including African/Caribbean Literature, Irish Literature, a survey in Victorian and modern British literature, and a senior-level interdisciplinary capstone course, Buddhist Traditions of Tibet and the Himalayas. In 1998-99 he taught at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania as a Senior Fulbright Lecturer. More recently in 2012-13, he spent six months in northern India and Nepal on a Fulbright Senior Research grant.
