Intercultural Life

Are you wondering just how you’ll fit in at Central? Maybe you’re worried about being in the minority for racial, religious, social or other reasons. We welcome and celebrate you at Central! The Office for Intercultural Life provides you the extra support you might need as an individual.

We are also dedicated to teaching the student body how to better interact with people who come from differing backgrounds. We accomplish this through a variety of cultural, dramatic, musical and political activities, as well as training sessions, held throughout the year.

Integration with preparation is our approach as we seek to prepare students to understand, respect and connect with others at Central College, locally in Pella, throughout the U.S. and, eventually, globally.

Mission statement

The Office for Intercultural Life aims to provide leadership to fulfill Central College’s mission in appreciation of diversity, with its own objective of providing programming that challenges, educates and stimulates the Central community to understand, respect and build connections. The primary goal is to provide individuals with skills to live productively in a multicultural society.

The Office for Intercultural Life is located on the second floor of Maytag Student Center. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
