National Society of Leadership and Success

National Society of Leadership and Success logoThe National Society of Leadership and Service is the nation’s largest leadership honor society.

Central’s NSLS chapter began in Fall 2017. To date, more than 180 Central students have completed their membership requirements. Additionally, a group of the Central chapter alumni have formed a student leadership team to provide feedback on their experience, to mentor current students, to lead Success Networking Teams and to discuss long-term plans for the Central chapter. The leadership team currently provides valuable student perspective and will move the program in a long-term, student-run direction.

The program consists of an orientation, leadership training day, success networking team meetings—small groups that emphasize goal setting, accountability and commitment to action—and speaker broadcasts featuring leading figures delivering success-related messages to members. Upon program completion, members are officially inducted into the NSLS during a special program.

The lifetime membership provides access to benefits including scholarships and awards, exclusive on-campus events, employer recruitment through an online job bank and discounts on computers, textbooks, grad school prep courses, insurance and much more.

Central’s NSLS chapter attracts participants from across campus. It is a unique opportunity for students to form new connections and examine differing points of view while engaging with other students in leadership skill building. These connections enable students to see the benefit of continuing to expand their personal and professional network through connections with others. The program also enables students to step away from the rapid pace of college and the myriad of available distractions for a time to focus on one’s development, to consider and value the perspectives of others and to not only visualize the future they want but identify strategies to make it happen.
