Women's track | May 6, 2013

PELLA—Central College seniors Felicia Coleman (Houston, Texas, J. Frank Dobie HS) and Josh Fleming (Caseyville, Ill., Collinsville HS) are the Iowa Conference outdoor track and field performers of the week in women’s track and men’s field events, respectively.

Coleman collected a pair of victories at the Monmouth College (Ill.) Invitational last Saturday. She captured the 100 meters in 12.22 seconds before running the third leg of the 4x100-meter relay, which tallied a season’s best time of 48.5 seconds. Coleman also helped the Dutch finish fourth in the 4x400 relay (4:10.6).

A three-time all-American, Coleman has received track events performer of the week distinction four times, including twice this season.

Fleming posted a pair of personal bests at Monmouth in the discus throw and hammer throw. His toss of 162 feet, 11 inches ranks 14th on the NCAA Division III discus list. Fleming’s hammer throw mark of 169-3 took third and he also finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 47-2.5. It’s the first time he’s received performer of the week recognition.

The track and field squads will compete at the Iowa Conference championships this weekend at Dubuque, with Loras College playing host. The decathlon and heptathlon are slated to begin Thursday at 3 p.m. Field events will start Friday at 1 p.m. with running events at 3 p.m.
