Men's track | April 3, 2013

PELLA—Central College jumped six spots to No. 17 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association men's Division III rankings.

Central debuted at 23rd in the preseason poll a week ago. North Central (Ill.) remains at No. 1 followed by Wis.-Oshkosh at No. 2. Iowa Conference rival Wartburg College is 14th.

The Dutch won five events and racked up 134 points at the Central Invitational last Thursday, finishing second in the 10-team field. A small contingent also competed at the Washington-St. Louis University (Mo.) Invitational, where Eli Horton (sophomore, Runnells, Southeast Polk HS) shattered a 19-year-old school record with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters (14:33.77).

A full Central squad returns to St. Louis, Mo., Saturday for the Washington-St. Louis Select meet.
