Men's cross country | Oct. 2, 2012

PELLA— The Central College men’s cross country team has claimed the top spot in the fourth week of the regional rankings produced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Dutch jumped St. Olaf (Minn.) to claim the No. 1 spot in the Central Region after being ranked second last week. Iowa Conference competitors Loras and Wartburg checked in at second and third respectively with Luther ranked fifth. Central is also ranked 24th in the USTFCCCA national poll.

The Dutch men are coming off a solid showing at the prestigious University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 29. Central placed fourth in the 27-team field and defeated the formerly top-ranked Oles.

The Dutch are off this weekend and will travel to West Salem, Wis. for the Wis.-La Crosse Jim Drew/Tori Neubauer Invitational Oct. 13.
