PELLA — The Central College women’s golf team stands on top of the six-team field after the first round of the 36-hole Central Fall Invitational Friday.

The squad walked away with a team score of 345. Central leads Grinnell College by 4 strokes going into tomorrow’s second round. Taylor Hill (sophomore, Treynor) shot a career low and led the pack with career-best 75, 3 over par and 7 strokes ahead of second place.

“As a team, this is always great to see,” said coach Tim Wilkinson. “And Taylor certainly delivered on the course today.”

Tied for sixth was Ashley Smith (senior, Johnsburg, Ill.)who carded an 86. Sophomore Kelsey Van Tasell (Pella) shot 90 and is tied for 13th. Chelsey Shuey (freshman, Ames) finished with 94 and Emily Fisher (freshman, Wapello) had 95.
