Iowa is a treasure trove of architectural styles. Molly Naumann is an architectural historian who works as a historic preservation consultant with municipal, county and regional governments as well as private property owners across the state, helping them to identify and preserve their local historic resources. Molly holds BA and MA degrees in Art History from the University of Iowa. She has been self-employed as an architectural historian since 1979 and has worked in 49 of Iowa’s 99 counties conducting survey and evaluations for local governments and the State Historical Society of Iowa. Within the past 6 years Molly has gained true “hands-on” preservation experience as the first president of the Main Street Ottumwa board of directors, and as the owner of a historic building (currently undergoing rehabilitation) in downtown Ottumwa.
