Health and Safety Abroad

Each director-led program begins with an extensive in-country orientation, during which resident staff review site-specific health and safety recommendations.  Students are expected to follow these recommendations and exercise good judgment.  Students should rely on resident directors (for director-led programs) or faculty (for faculty-led programs) as the primary source for information, guidance, and support when making health and safety decisions abroad.  Independent travel must be made known to resident directors or faculty as a precautionary measure.  Resident staff and faculty are in contact with the study abroad office at Central College.

Please refer to the Student Guides (see Learn More on each program page) for tips on staying healthy abroad.

In Case of Emergency

To contact the Emergency Response Team please call our toll-free number at 1-800-831-3629. After hours instructions will re-direct callers to the main campus switchboard where the call can then be re-directed. In the event of an emergency resident staff collaborates with Central College administrators to determine the most prudent course of action.
