The Amazing Race: Foreign Language Edition

All 400+ students taking language classes in French, German, Spanish or Chinese in the fall get the opportunity to run in Central College's version of the Amazing Race, completing challenges in each of the "countries" they visit. They might learn an Austrian folk dance (right)...

...view the scenery of Venezuela... ...sing a Mexican mariachi song...
...play a game of petanque in France... ...or learn to use chopsticks in China.

Hispanic Heritage Celebrations

Dinners, dances, dance performances and speakers are some of the events that have honored Hispanic Heritage month.

International Dinners

Each year the language houses sponsor formal dinners for each language group--French, German and Spanish. The language assistants and students in the houses plan the menu and lead cultural activities such as slides, games or music. One of the dinners is usually held during the spring visit of the directors of the international programs.

Sam Mate-Kodjo (Spanish professor), Verónica García Montero (Director of Granada program), Steef Eman (Director of Leiden program), Nicole Kaplan (then Director of Paris program, now Assistant Professor of French), Anne Rehagen (Office of International Education), Eric Sneddon (Director of London program)

International Bazaar

Held in the Weller Center each spring, the International Bazaar is hosted by the Office of International Education with the help of many of the language assistants, international students and students who have studied abroad.
