Computational Science
Computational science involves the application of ideas from mathematics and computer science to a scientific investigation. Computational science techniques are rapidly being incorporated into all areas of science and it is becoming increasingly important for all people interested in science to be familiar with computational science techniques.
At Central, a minor in Computational Science is offered. We believe this minor would be a good addition to anyone majoring in one of the sciences, or for someone majoring in math or computer science who has a strong interest in a scientific field. Central college is one of the first schools in the country to offer an academic program in computational science.
Our program combines courses in mathematics and computer science with 2 specially designed computational science courses to provide a solid background in the field. For students who are not a major in one of the scientific fields, a year of study in some field of science is required. See the Computational Science curriculum page for a list of the specific course requirements
