actuary at Aegon
I'm an actuary at Aegon in Cedar Rapids, and we're in the midst of our annual recruiting efforts for both full-time Actuarial Students (May 2007 graduates) and summer Actuarial Interns (later graduates). Although we have a history of hiring from schools with large Actuarial Science programs such as the University of Iowa and Drake, I'm interested in finding candidates from smaller Iowa schools such as Central.
If you know of any students who you think may have in interest in an actuarial career, could you please forward them the attached document, which describes Aegon, Cedar Rapids, and the opportunities here in more detail? As it says in the document, interested candidates can send me their resume. If there is mutual interest, we may set up a phone interview or bring the candidate in for an on-site interview.
I'd be happy to answer any questions from students as well.

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is currently recruiting students for the new U.S. Department of Energy DOE scholars Internship Program. Please forward this message to any students you think might be interested.
Benefits to student interns will include:
Ten-week appointments at DOE offices, laboratories, or facilities
Weekly stipend payments of $550 for undergraduates or $600 for graduate students
Round-trip travel from home or institution to the appointment site
Opportunities to apply academic studies to DOE programs in science, engineering, safety, finance, project management, policy, planning, and other professional areas.

Summer Internship Opportunities at Wells Fargo - Des Moines, IA
I received your contact information from one of our employees, XXX, who thought you may be able to help us put the word out that we have paid summer internship opportunities for MIS, Computer Science and Computer Engineering students. Our intention is to attract a diverse pool of candidates, who have completed their Junior year in these fields of study, have a 3.0 overall GPA or higher, and are available to work the majority of the summer. Wells Fargo Technology Information Group – Summer
Intern Positions
A 10 week Internship program designed to attract a diverse pool of college students to work within the various Technology Information Group (TIG) divisions while gaining experience working at a top financial institution. The various TIG divisions include: Technology and Enterprise Services, Technology Infrastructure Management, Information Services, and Human Resources/Finance.
1. Technical Analyst (2 Interns)
Help analyze, organize and perform contextual user analysis and research. Interns will work with Information Architecture (IA) Team to strategize a data collection method to complete user analysis for all HCFG customer and user profile. Working with IA Team, Interns will assist in scheduling meetings for data collection sessions and analyze data collected into draft presentation formats and provide assistance with conceptual prototypes. Interns will work with conceptual and development prototypers to help larger User Centered Analysis and Design Team realize business requirements for selected projects and provide assistance with requirements delivery. Intern will assist the Business Process Analysis Team to produce user centered requirements documents for our downstream partners.

Visual Basic Programmer
Van Gorp corporation in Pella is seeking someone to do visual basic programming with the goal of automating their estimating process and having it interface with their business system. The time frame is still being determined, but the internship will likely start this semester and go into the summer.
