POSITION:  Assistant Professor of Economics

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Full time, tenure track appointment beginning August 2008

QUALIFICATIONS A Ph.D. in economics or related field is preferred, although outstanding ABD applicants will be considered. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful applicant will teach introductory and upper-level economics classes, quantitative methods, and business operations management.  The economics curriculum is fully integrated with the Business Management, Political Science and Environmental Studies programs, and its faculty engages in cross-disciplinary activities with numerous other departments.  The normal course load is 21-23 semester hours per year.  Applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching, and have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the liberal arts environment. 

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS/ACCOUNTING/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT: The departments of economics, accounting and business management consist of four distinct majors: accounting, economics, international management, and business management. In collaboration with the math/computer science department, the department offers an interdisciplinary major in management information systems.  The department has nine full-time faculty: three in economics, two in accounting, and four in business management. Business management is the largest major in the department, and offers emphasis areas in six different fields: finance, marketing, business administration, business education, not-for-profit management, and business economics.
