Title of Position: Assistant Director, Financial Aid Office (formerly advertised as Assistant Director, Technical Services, Financial Aid Office)
Central College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Financial Aid Office. This position is responsible to the Director of Financial Aid to work with emerging technologies in the management, planning, quality control, communication and administration of all financial aid activities in compliance with federal, state and NCAA regulations. This person will also spend significant time counseling students and parents, consistently demonstrating a positive, personable and respectful attitude while working through a frequently interrupted work schedule.
The Assistant Director, Financial Aid Office will work in collaboration with financial aid office staff to assure federal, state and NCAA regulatory and administrative compliance through the development of comprehensive workflow processes and quality control measures using the latest technology available. The person in this position will coordinate and manage all technical issues related to data entry processing, communication flow, automated packaging, correspondence tracking and research related to the administrative computing system and federal or state financial aid processing technology advances including training for the financial aid office staff. The individual in this position must respond quickly and accurately to student and parent questions and concerns in a family-oriented manner, recognizing the family investment in the selection and payment of their college choice. The successful candidate will streamline the processing of student loans through Federal, state, institutional and private loan programs including, but not limited to: printing, distribution and certification of loan applications/promissory notes, confirming eligibility issues, tracking loan limits, and monitoring disbursements, refunds, cancellations and other changes. Additional responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, attending and participating in special events to promote financial aid awareness to continuing and incoming students in a variety of venues including scholarship days and orientation sessions; set goals and develop programs and strategies to communicate with students and their families to achieve higher acceptance of aid offers for new and returning students; process and reconcile all state of Iowa awards and Federal grant and loan records.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a business or computer processing related field or equivalent experience in a financial or information technology setting. Minimum of two (2) years of experience with Datatel software for integrated student services preferred. Ability to work with multiple software utilities required.
