POSITION:  Assistant Professor of Religion

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time, tenure track appointment beginning August 2008

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Theology or Religious Studies and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the primary role, secondary areas should include one of the following: Judaism, Asian Religions, Islam, or Modern Theology. The candidate is expected to assist with the Christian Ministries Emphasis within the Religion Major (arranging internships, vocational counseling, an appropriate course in Religious Education or Missions). Many of our majors anticipate careers in ministry, and we seek to offer them a broad background in theology and religious studies as well as practical experience in preparation for professional studies. An ability to contribute to Central’s expanding Study Abroad programs is an asset.

DEPARTMENT OF RELIGION: The department offers majors in philosophy and religion with minors in critical thinking, philosophy, and philosophy/religion. There are six full-time faculty: two teaching philosophy and four teaching religion.
