POSITION:  Assistant Professor of Economics

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time, tenure track position beginning August 2009

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in economics or related field is preferred, although outstanding ABD applicants will be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES:The successful applicant will teach courses in introductory economics, intermediate macroeconomics, international economics, and financial institutions.  The economics curriculum is fully integrated with the Business Management, Political Science and Environmental Studies programs, and its faculty engages in cross-disciplinary activities with numerous other departments.  The normal course load is 21-23 semester hours per year.  Potential applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching and have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the liberal arts environment.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS/ACCOUNTING/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT:  The departments of economics, accounting and business management consist of four distinct majors: accounting, economics, international management, and business management. In collaboration with the math/computer science department, the department offers an interdisciplinary major in management information systems.  The department has nine full-time faculty: three in economics, two in accounting, and four in business management. Business management is the largest major in the department, and offers emphasis areas in six different fields: finance, marketing, business administration, business education, not-for-profit management, and business economics.

Central College is a residential liberal arts college guided by an ecumenical Christian tradition, serving over 1600 students. Founded in 1853, the college is affiliated with the Reformed Church in America and NCAA Division III athletics.
