POSITION:  Assistant Professor of Art:  Art Historian

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Tenure-track appointment beginning August 2009

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Art History (ABD may be considered) and evidence of scholarly productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach Art History survey courses in both Western and Non-Western art, Art Theory and Criticism, and other courses in area of specialization. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development, teach both upper and lower division art history courses, and be willing to teach Intersections, our first-year common course.  A commitment to advising, ongoing scholarly activity, and general college service is expected.

Department of Art: The art department is housed in the Lubbers Center for Visual Arts and consists of three full-time faculty, including art history, 2-D studio, and 3-D studio.  The department is also home to the Mills Gallery and its director.  Students may complete a major or minor in art and cooperative programs in pre-architecture.
