IPF: Our Purpose
The Iowa Psychological Foundation was incorporated in 1992 as a charitable not-for-profit corporation. The purpose of the foundation is to serve Iowa with the discipline and science of psychology. As a non profit foundation, the IPF takes no political stands and does not endorse candidates for public office. The focus of IPF activities and awards is chiefly within the state of Iowa. The IPF board is comprised of psychologists and non-psychologists who serve on a voluntary basis to assist with governance of the foundation, management of investments and determination of awards.

IPF Mission
The IPF promotes awareness and application of psychological principles to enhance the quality of life and healthy behavior for all Iowans.

IPF Activities
In keeping with its mission of using psychology to improve the quality of life and healthy behavior for all Iowans, the IPF board has chosen to undertake the following activities:

IPF: Our Funding
The foundation invites gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations. All contributions to the IPF are voluntary and tax deductible. Donors will receive a receipt and may elect to remain anonymous or to have their identification and the amount of the gift(s) included in the IPF annual report. Methods of giving include, but are not limited to:

Investment and Award Policies
IPF funds are invested in a variety of accounts, including a portfolio of stocks and bonds, money market certificates and an interest-earning checking account. The investments are managed by a committee, which includes one or more professional investment counselors, who seek to maximize yield while also preserving safety of the investments and deposits. The IPF Investment Management Committee meets on a regular basis.

The IPF also has an Award Committee that considers requests from individuals, groups and programs. With the IPF mission as its guide, the award policy takes into account the need of the applicant, the relative merits of the project to be funded, and whether or not it meets guidelines established in the bylaws of the organization.
