OFFICE OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
(1) Position: Assistant to the Associate Dean
Qualifications: Word-processing proficiency (Microsoft Word) and Excel, confidentiality, good phone skills, ability to work independently, and professionalism.
Duties: Students are responsible for working independently on several miscellaneous tasks, which change from day to day. Main responsibilities include typing academic documents, data entry in Excel and Access, copy machine work, filing documents, mailings, and other miscellaneous assignments from the Assistant to the Vice President.
(2) Position: Assistant to the Director of PLACES
Qualifications: Word processing proficiency (Microsoft Word); confidentiality; good telephone skills; good organizational skills, ability to work independently.
Duties: Typing documents; making copies; preparing mailings; entering data in Excel and Access; and other duties as assigned.
ACADEMIC RECORDS AND REGISTRATION
Position: Student Worker
Qualifications: consistency in work hours and ability to work 2-3 hour shifts; confidentiality a must; organized; meticulous.
Duties: provide administrative/clerical support to the departmental professional staff; answer phone, retrieve voicemail messages, greet visitors, and provide basic office information and/or refer students/parents/alumni to other staff; assist students with the completion of academic forms; process transcript request; process enrollment verifications; update academic records on the Datatel system; maintain/update digitally-imaged academic records; inventory office forms; retrieve/distribute incoming and outgoing departmental mail; prepare materials for mass distribution; perform other duties as assigned.
ADMISSION
Position: Student Host
Qualifications and Duties: Outgoing, energetic personality, willingness to meet many new people, ability to share personal Central experience, and must be able to retain the "facts and figures" of Central College. Hosts are responsible for giving tours of Central and escorting prospective students to appointments. Hosts will help with the clerical responsibilities, such as stuffing envelopes, filing, making phone calls, typing, etc., of the admission office when they are not giving tours. All hosts must attend training sessions prior to the beginning of the year and regular meetings.
ADVANCEMENT
(1) Position: Student Ambassador
Qualifications: Positive attitude, self-motivation, assertiveness; ability to convey enthusiasm for Central College in a mature and professional manner; excellent communication skills, particularly over the phone; previous work in phonathons and/or telemarketing is not required but helpful.
Duties: Be a strong advocate for Central College; contact alumni, parents, and friends of Central to secure gifts to the Central Fund; maintain and exhibit enthusiasm and good public relations with alumni, parents, and friends of Central; clearly update and verify all specified information of those being called; accurately record the results of every phone call and fill out forms completely; arrive for work prepared and on time; sign up for at least six hours of calling each week of the Phonathon; once experienced, assist in representing Central College at alumni and/or fund raising events.
(2) Position: Student Supervisor -- Student Ambassador Program
Qualifications: Exhibit enthusiasm for Central College and the Ambassador program; experienced/successful caller and continued calling participation; organizational abilities, attentiveness to details and strong oral communication skills; strong management and leadership skills; have the ability to motivate others and work as a team; be knowledgeable on issues and events associated with the Central College Community.
Duties: On-sight supervision of assigned calling sessions; direct and mentor Ambassadors with care and understanding; assist in training new Ambassadors; provide feedback to callers and staff regarding program and calls; maintain and record session calling results; assist with room set-up; assist with planning and carrying out of incentives for sessions; provide a fun atmosphere to motivate and assist callers; plan and review calling schedules with program supervisors; aid in the determination of session goals and means to achieve them; communicate with callers and program supervisors regarding all aspects of the program.
ALUMNI
Position: Clerical Assistant

Duties: Assist the support staff in complete basic office duties, which include but are not limited to updating alumni records, general clerical responsibilities, filing, typing, making copies, and preparing items for mailings.
ART DEPARTMENT

ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT
(1) Position: Sport Team Managers
Qualifications & Duties: Liaison between the coaching staff and the equipment room personnel; assist at practice and games; issue uniforms for practice and games; pack travel bags; issue practice clothing and locker assignments; assist in laundering of game and practice clothing; other duties as assigned.
(2) Position: Student Assistant Coach
Qualifications & Duties: Responsible to the head coach to perform duties as assigned during practice and games.
(3) Position: Student Strength Coach
Qualifications & Duties: Assist the head strength and conditioning coach in supervision of team and individual strength workouts and training sessions; repair and maintain equipment in the fitness center; maintain cleanliness and appearance of the fitness center; monitor existing individual and team strength programs and develop new programs for the college constituency and Sports Club members.
(4) Position: Check-in Attendant for Facilities
Qualifications & Duties: Log in users of the building and check out equipment used for non-athletic programs; check that all users have the proper identification to enter and use the facility; set up and tear down nets and courts, general clean-up chores.
(5) Position: Early Morning Check-in Worker & Fitness Center Attendant
Qualifications & Duties: Work early morning hours; set up daily log; and other special assignment.
(6) Position: Driving Range Attendant
Qualifications & Duties: Responsible for the opening, closing, and general maintenance of the driving range; pick up the balls that are used in the course of a day.
(7) Position: Equipment Room/Special Event Staff
Qualifications & Duties: Assist the equipment room staff with everyday workings of the equipment room; run the washing machine and dryers; hand out equipment and team clothing; clean and maintain athletic department’s equipment; maintain cleanliness and appearance of the equipment room; assist with the operation of home athletic contests and events.
(8) Position: Fitness Center Attendant
Qualifications & Duties: Check-in/receptionists in the Ron Schipper Fitness Center are responsible for the general maintenance of the area and equipment.
(9) Position: Video Tape Operator for Home Events
Qualifications: Video camera experience is helpful, but not necessary.
Duties: Videotape athletic contests for the athletic department according to NCAA rules.
(10) Position: Intramural Sport Directors and Council
Qualifications: Students that have a genuine interest in directing or co-directing an Intramural sponsored activity.
Duties: The Intramural Council is composed of a staff director and student representatives from the college. The student representatives have the responsibility to contact officials, work with the team captains, and assist in scheduling the activities. The council is influential in establishing policies, making decisions, and serving as a sounding board for ways in which the program can be improved.
(11) Position: Office Worker
Duties: Take mail and other deliveries over to main campus; pick up mail from the campus post office; run any other related errands; assist with mailings, sign letters, stuff envelopes and other clerical assignments.
ATHLETICS TRAINERS
(1) Position: Athletic Training Student
Qualifications: Must be Exercise Science/Athletic Training Major, 2.8 GPA and apply in person.
Duties: Athletic Training students work in an academic environment, learning and practicing skills related to the health care of the physically active. Students complete a rigorous CAAHEP accredited academic program.
(2) Position: Office Worker
Duties: Typing, Filing, computer work (Word, Excel, Access), mailings, campus errands, reception duties, exam model.
BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Position: Biology Laboratory Assistant
Qualifications: Students must be majoring in biology or environmental studies and have completed the introductory level courses. Students should be responsible, self-motivated, able to follow instructions, have good interpersonal skills, be flexible, demonstrate attention to detail and respect confidential information.
Duties: Assisting in laboratory sessions, preparing materials for laboratories, tutoring for courses, maintaining the plant and animal collections, assisting faculty in museum curation and specimen preparation and miscellaneous jobs that the department needs done.
BOOKSTORE
Position: Central College Bookstore Clerk
Qualifications: Cash register and retail experience; friendly, helpful, meet public well
Duties: Student clerks will be responsible for operating cash registers, stocking items and helping keep the store neat and clean. They must be friendly, helpful and meet the public well by assisting customers with purchases. Other duties may include but are not limited to folding, pricing and arranging merchandise, packing and shipping mail orders.

CAFE @ GEISLER LIBRARY

Duties: Provide customer service for meal plan students, faculty, staff and visitors; fill display case with food and restock as needed; brew coffee and prepare a wide variety of coffee drinks; operate cash register; clean serving area and dining area as needed; stock utensils and condiments; stock cups and lids from the storage room.
(2) Position: Student Supervisors
Qualifications: Reliable, thorough knowledge of student workers' responsibilities, ability to communicate and supervise.
Duties: Assist and supervise student assistants; prepare the Cafe for the next business day ensuring everything is well stocked and clean; at the end of the day, close cashier terminal, sort charge receipts, put deposit in envelope and count drawer to ensure correct starting cash; communicate any concerns or problems with manager; other duties as assigned.
CAMPUS MINISTRY
Position: Student Worker
Qualifications: Web site design experience and Office 2000 skills a plus, but not required to apply.
Duties: Send and gather mail and sort by priority, answer phones, keep calendar, relay work to campus services and basic office tasks including word processing and file keeping. Occasional additional duties as required by chaplain or campus ministry program.
CAMPUS PARKING/SECURITY

CAMPUS SERVICES
(1) Position: Campus Post Office
Qualifications: Accuracy, dependability, good interpersonal skills, and able to tolerate all weather conditions.
Duties: Sort, alphabetize, and stuff mail into campus mailboxes; deliver and pick up mail from across campus and from the Pella Post Office; be able to lift 50 lbs.; and be a registered campus driver.
(2) Position: Conference Center Worker and Host for Conferencing
Qualifications: Dependable, knowledgeable of the campus, enjoy working with the public
Duties: Answer the phone; assist with scheduling; type invoices; filing; load data on the computer; check room set-ups and other duties as assigned. Check room set-ups and complete arrangements when necessary, greet and direct the public to scheduled events.
CENTER FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
(1) Position: Tutor
Qualifications: Students who wish to become tutors in the Center for Academic Excellence must be nominated by a faculty member in each of the subject areas students select; in this way, tutors are certified as experts in their chosen fields and as excellent communicators. After being nominated, prospective tutors are interviewed by the Director and told whether they will be hired or not.
Duties: Tutors teach their students in a one-on-one session or in a group tutorial. Tutors are required to fill out the Center’s requisite paperwork for each student they tutor. Tutors who do not have scheduled appointments during work hours will do various Center tasks at the direction of the professional staff.
(2) Position: Supplemental Instruction Leader
Duties: In addition to meeting the qualifications for general tutors, SI leaders must also be available to attend the class they are assisting and to hold structured study sessions once or twice per week outside of class.
(3) Position: Office Worker
Qualifications: Students who wish to become office workers in the Center for Academic Excellence must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to follow oral and written directions. Experience with word processing and various computer application is preferred.
Duties: Will do various clerical and record keeping tasks as directed by the Center's professional staff.

Box/Sack Lunch Assistant - Help make sandwiches for Café; assist in putting together box lunches for students and for catering events. Checker - Responsible for money box; prepare computer for the proper meal; record cash and scan cards properly; check sack lunch sheets and traveling teams/groups sheets for names/student ID numbers to enter into computer; watch for unauthorized items brought into and taken out of dining hall; lock doors when appropriate; after dinner clean tables in the dining hall and help where needed until the Central Market is completely closed. Comfort Foods - Help cooks with food, set-up, serving, and clean-up; keep serving areas clean and wiped down; get serving utensils from kitchen; replace empty pans and take empty pans to dish room; at appropriate time, drain wells and turn off heat; cover unused food to be saved, label and date, and put away; at dinner, when comfort area is clean, help where needed until the Central Market is completely closed. Deli - Help set up the line; wear disposable gloves while serving; keep serving areas clean and wiped down; help keep meat, cheese, condiments, and sauces full; after each meal, appropriately puts things away and clean-up; at dinner, when the deli is clean; help where needed until the Central Market is completely closed. Qualifications: a thorough knowledge of food stations and student workers' responsibilities; ability to communicate and manage.
Duties: Manage and assist students in the above positions. Be sure each food station is supplied with food ready for serving and cleaned appropriately; help where needed.

Duties: Assist student managers to ensure proper staffing of students; ensure proper cleaning is completed in conjunction with student managers; Organize and file student worker information; work with line supervisor evaluating staffing needs; discuss and develop ideas for special events with management; discuss any concerns or compliments from our customers with director of food service; create signs for room rentals in the Central Market on a weekly basis; other duties as necessary.
ECONOMICS, ACCOUNTING & BUSINESS MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
Position: Professor’s Assistant
Qualifications: Students should be responsible, self-motivated, able to follow instructions, have good interpersonal skills, have good computer skills, demonstrate attention to detail, be flexible, and demonstrate respect for confidential information. Students must be majoring in the department and have completed introductory level courses in the discipline (intermediate level desirable).
Duties: Typing, grading, entering data into computer records, doing library research, running errands, doing copy work, preparing class materials, assisting and/or conducting review sessions and/or labs.
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Position: Assistant to Office Manager and Professors
Qualifications: Attention to detail and confidentiality is a must; reliable, organized, good interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, Mail Merge, and Powerpoint.
Duties: Word processing and data entry, act as a receptionist, provide general office support activities to department members such as making photocopies, correcting exams, filing, bulletin board updating, take mail to from the campus post office, other cross campus errands. Perform other related duties as assigned.
EXERCISE SCIENCE
Duties: Set up equipment for labs; copy work for handouts in class, review and update the current class literature; sort literature for the ACSM tests. Periodically teach aerobic classes, help with campus-wide wellness program.
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
(1) Position: Tech Support
Qualifications:
Duties: Assist HVAC technicians in the repair and replacement of equipment on campus; Repair of residence operational fixtures; projects; the preventative maintenance of all equipment; parts pick-up and deliveries; painting and cleaning of boiler room and chiller room and related equipment.
(2) Position: Central Stores Assistant
Qualifications: A valid driver's license; able to lift 50-100 lbs.
Duties: Assist the manager with deliveries and pick-ups; data entry; stocking; organizing; inventory; clean-up; other duties as assigned.
(3) Position: Custodial Support
Qualifications: Dependable
Duties: Assist custodial staff in the cleaning of high use areas, including vacuuming; sweeping of tile floors and sidewalks in front of buildings and stairways; clean glass windows; trash removal; recycled material removal; dusting.
(4) Position: Maintenance Support
Qualifications: A valid license to drive college vehicles; able to lift 50-100 pounds.
Duties: Assist the carpenters and technician repair and replace equipment on campus such as light globes and flood lights on the buildings; repair the residence operational fixtures such as smoke detectors, emergency lights, furniture; assist electricians and plumbers with projects such as pulling wire, bending conduit, putting P-traps under sinks; repair screens and other items in the shop.
(5) Position: Fleet Support
Qualifications: Able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid drivers license.
Duties: Responsible for washing and cleaning vehicles, make deliveries on campus. Must be able to lift between 50 — 100 pounds.
(6) Position: Office Support
Qualifications: Typing and computer skills, filing, phone skills, able to work with minimal supervision.
Duties: Typing, making copies, run errands on campus, filing, and numerous other jobs as assigned.
(7) Position: Campus Utilities/Grounds Worker
Qualifications: Grounds or farm background. Operate small equipment. Be able to lift between 50 — 100 pounds. License to drive college vehicles.
Duties: Assist staff with mowing, trimming, snow removal and other hand work; assist with campus event set-up and tear down
(8) Position: Athletic Utilities/Grounds Worker
Qualifications: Possess good attitude; prompt and motivated; responsible for work safety and good decision making; operate outside equipment; able to lift 25-75 pounds; license to drive college vehicles; endure cold temperatures during snow removal and field set-ups and tear-downs.
Duties: Outside–assist with mowing, weed eating, and operating grounds equipment i.e., tractors, mowers, spreaders, vertidrain, push mowers; snow removal; set-up football field; help with outside set-ups on campus grounds as well. Inside — assist with athletic and other set-ups; move heavy wrestling mats, high jump and pole vault mats; operate floor scrubbers, burnishers, power tools and vacuum cleaners; assist on campus and athletic dept. with moving housing and office furniture.
