BandFest

The 2008 Central College BandFest will again consist of one full group of approximately 85 members conducted by Mitchell Lutch, Director of Bands. We will again spend a portion of the day in like-family ensembles: woodwind, brass and percussion including a performance by each on the evening concert. The Festival will take place on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008. Starting with this year's festival, Nomination Forms are to be submitted online at the link below and are due Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007.
JazzMania

Jazzmania features a day of competition for high school and junior high school jazz ensembles. Each performing group will present a 20 minute program. Adjudicators and clinicians will give comments and performance tips for each ensemble. An evening concert featuring a guest clinician and the Central College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Gabriel Espinosa, ends the day on a high note. SingFest

Central College's annual Singfest brings together high school choir students from all over Iowa. The choir is made up of 80-90 of the top vocal students nominated by their high school choir directors. This year’s conductor will be our own Mark Babcock, director of the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers. There will be a men’s choir and women’s choir as well as a mixed choir. Throughout the day students will also work with Central's own music faculty in mini-lessons or workshops. A festival concert at 7 p.m. highlights the day's activities and features selected soloists from the choir.
StringFest

The 2008 Central College High School Stringfest is going for BAROQUE! Come and experience Baroque music under the guidance of director Dr. Mark Hartman, and guest string faculty. If you want to have an opportunity to play a concerto with an orchestra, you can try out for the concerto competition! The festival evening concert will be at 7 p.m. and will feature the Stringfest Festival String Orchestra and the Central College Community Orchestra.
