
Computer Science and Math Scholarships (CSEMS)
funded by the National Science Foundation
Award levels are as follows:
Students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- major in mathematics, computers science, or computer information systems
- demonstrate academic potential or ability
- demonstrate financial need
- have a minimum high school GPA of 3.2 and ACT composite of 20
- be accepted for admission and have your FAFSA completed by April 15th
To apply for the CSEMS scholarship, send an essay and a teacher recommendation by March 1, 2006 to:

The essay should contain:
- a description of your foreseeable academic and professional goals,
- an explanation of why the scholarship will be effective in helping you achieve those goals, and
- a summary of what about mathematics and/or computer science excites you to continue its study in college.
The essay should be from two to three pages long. Attach to a list of your activities, honors, awards, and/or memberships that supports your application.
The teacher recommendation should contain:
- the number of years you have known the student,
- how the student ranks within the college-bound students that you have taught, and
- how likely you think the student will succeed in completing a mathematics or computer science degree.
The maximum length of the recommendation should be one page.
