Dates and Deadlines for 2010-11

Planning to begin at Central in the fall of 2011? Check out the dates below to help you you keep everything on track!

January 1, 2011
You can submit the FAFSA anytime after Jan. 1. Go to pin.ed.gov to get your pin number to submit the FAFSA on-line. Central's FAFSA code is 001850.
January 15

Scholarship deadline for incoming new freshman!! To be eligible to compete in Central Scholars Day, all material - application, transcripts, and tests scores - must be sent to Central College by 5:00 p.m. on January 15.

February 5, 12, 19
Central Scholars Days for incoming new freshman - Academic scholarship competitions.
February 5, 12, 19
Audition/interview dates for Central Awards (interest-based scholarships). You may also schedule an individual appointment.
February 19
Last day to audition/interview and postmark deadline for Central Awards.
March 15

Priority deadline for Financial Aid. As soon as taxes are complete, get your financial aid forms filled out and sent in. Return the FAFSA by March 15 for priority consideration. Aid is offered on a funds-available basis thereafter. FAFSA forms are available in your high school guidance office or you can complete it online at the FAFSA website. Initial financial aid packages will be awarded.
April 3-4
Admitted Student Open House for incoming new freshman.
On or before
May 1
Candidates' reply date for admission. Notify Central of your decision to attend by submitting a $200 nonrefundable enrollment deposit along with a signed copy of your financial aid award.
June 20-23 and July 19
Summer orientation for all incoming students (new freshman and transfer students)!
July 1
Iowa students! The FAFSA must be received at the processor by this date in order to be considered for the Iowa Tuition Grant.
Summer

1. Return health/physical form.

2. Return personal information form (will be mailed to you).

3. Ask high school (and colleges if transfer student) to send final transcript(s) to Admission Office.

4. If taking out loans:
Students: Complete master promissory note for the Stafford subsidized or unsubsidized loan.

Students: First time borrowers - complete loan entrance counseling.

Parents: Apply for the parent PLUS loan (optional).

Parents/Students: Apply for alternative loans. These loans are only to be used as a last resort after all other options (savings, work, etc.) have been exhausted. These loans generally take 4-6 weeks to process.

5. Sign up for monthly payment plan (optional).

6. Report any outside scholarship to the financial aid office.

By July 15
Housing assignments will be mailed.
August 20
