Tips for Finding Scholarships

Start Local

Banks, churches, unions or professional organizations, Dollars for Scholars, Rotary and Lions Clubs often offer great scholarships. Your high school counselor is a great resource.

Search Wisely

Search for scholarships that showcase your strengths and accomplishments, hobbies, religious affiliation, family heritage, volunteer activities, athletic involvement, financial need, musical talents or interests, GPA, or state of residence, just to name a few.

Get Involved

Many scholarship committees want to see you are involved in your community. A couple volunteer hours a week can pay off in more ways than one.

Be Ready

Gather tax info, recommendation letters and your résumé ahead of time. Make sure you meet the scholarship’s qualifications before you spend a lot of time applying. Apply for many! The time invested may pay off big. Don’t forget deadlines.

Check Out the Web!

There are hundreds of FREE scholarship searches available to you.

Raise.me allows students to earn micro-scholarships for their academic work and activities throughout their high school career, starting as early as 9th grade.
