Put your faith into action. This group organizes events for hands-on ministry both on and off campus. Events include working with children who have parents in prison (Angle Tree), afterschool programs, nursing home “Adopt a Grandparent,” fun nights for Teen Challenge women, clothing drives, book drives, and homeless ministry.
Increase awareness about and fight issues of global injustice. Past events have included work with International Justice Mission, Bread for the World, World Vision, Heifer International, Compassion International and other Christian non-profit organizations. Major themes in recent years have included human trafficking, global poverty, and North-African drought. For the 2012-13 academic year, students plan to focus on lack of international medical care.
Plan worship in order to serve others. This team works directly with the chaplain to plan Sunday evening worship services, to brainstorm new ideas for engaging the student body, and to give feedback about current vision for Campus Ministries.
Cast vision for Campus Ministries with the chaplain by brainstorming big-picture vision, participating in special projects, and walking with other students in their pursuit of Christ. Exec team is a unique opportunity to lead the Central community, especially its Christian leaders.
Express yourself to bring a deeper connection to God’s Word. Working in conjunction with the Worship Planning Team, this student-led team organizes skits, videos, PowerPoint presentations, and other creative mediums to communicate messages on Sunday evenings.
Lead students to God through song. Members of the praise team play at many worships throughout the semester. Teams play not only on Sunday evenings at the Calm, but they also serve bi-weekly at the InterVarsity large-group worship called NINE. Members of the Praise Team are also asked to help periodically in leading worship at retreats.
Serve God and His people behind the scenes. Members of the Tech Team learn how to run the sound system and media at large group worships. They can also learn how to move, set up, and tear down portable sound equipment at InterVarsity large group worships.
Promote Campus Ministries’ events on campus. Members of the Promotions Team supplement other teams by marketing different events. Weekly duties include media presentation for the Calm on Sunday evenings and poster making for upcoming events, but the Promotions Team is also utilized to creatively promote larger campaigns across Central’s campus.
