Wind power study
Central College was fortunate enough to become part of an NSF funded grant to determine the viability of using wind power on campus. A 100 ft. anemometer tower was borrowed from Cornell College for one year, during which we collected data on wind speed, wind direction, periods of sustained wind, etc. The information was analyzed and provided us with necessary information needed to justify installing a wind turbine on campus. The collected and analyzed data support the development of a wind turbine. This project was very helpful in providing evidence that a wind turbine would contribute both environmentally and economically to the campus and to the community.
