Publishing Opportunities
Opportunities
for publishing
Real writing needs real audiences, and we offer a variety of ways for students to reach wider audiences. The Knickerbocker is the oldest vehicle for creative writing on campus and publishes mostly fiction. Another venue is The Writing Anthology which annually publishes about 12 of the best essays and papers that have been submitted as class assignments across the curriculum. Essays from classes in linear algebra, biology, and physics, as well as political science, history, and Spanish, have been published. Although faculty members submit the best essays that have been written for their classes, the selection and editorial process is handled by a team of students. Book awards are made at an annual banquet for the best writing overall. For students interested in all varieties of journalism, The Ray is the official college newspaper and offers yet another opportunity for students interested in writing for the community.
