You begin the journey in teacher education by first applying
to Central College. Please see Central's Admission Office
at http://www.central.edu/admission/
for details on applying to Central College. Once you have
applied and accepted, you will begin taking the core courses
that will help prepare you for for a career in teaching! For
example, during your Freshman year, you will take our Foundations
of Education course to learn about the culture and professional
career of teaching. Other courses that you might take in teacher
education during your Freshman year include: Exceptional Children,
Introduction to Instructional Technologies, and Human Relations. Next, you will apply to the Education Department and solidify
your commitment to teacher education. From this point on,
you will take courses in teacher education as well as other
core Central College courses. Professors in the Education
Department provide detailed assistance to help you plan each
year of your teaching degree program. You will visit with
an Education professor early in your Freshman year to learn
about our degree program. See our web page that outlines a
typical course sequence for elementary majors and secondary
teaching endorsement majors.
