Why Community-based Learning?
- Since 1996, the program has grown from 50 students to about 250 students each semester who serve at more than 60 community sites.
- As a selected VISTA site, we furnish office space for a professional staff position that is funded by the Americorps program.
- Conference room space for collaboration is not available.
- The working arrangement is not conducive to team building or efficient operation. Currently, the director’s office is located in Central Hall, support staff offices are on a different floor in Central Hall, VISTA is in Lubbers and student workers are in Hoffman.
Why Collaboration?
The education and psychology departments use the service-learning pedagogy more than any other departments on campus.
