Biography: The son of two school teachers, Dr. Shriver was born in Romney, WV. After graduation from high school, he went on to West Virginia University where he received his B.S and M.S. degrees under the tutelage of Dr. Björn Söderberg. While at WVU he studied the synthesis of indoles and other heterocycles through the use of a variety organometallic processes involving Palladium and Chromium. He then went on to receive his Ph.D. at The University of Texas at Austin under the guidance of Jonathan Sessler. While at UT he looked that the reactions of calixpyrroles with applications targeting radioactive wastewater remediation. Upon graduation, he continued on a year at UT as a post doctoral researcher while teaching organic chemistry. He then accepted his current position at Central College first as a Visiting Assistant Professor, and subsequently as an Assistant Professor.
