Workshops & Events

The following workshops are offered each semester and include the most important strategies for conducting one's job search or entrance into graduate school. Watch the Career Center module and campus flyers for more information, or come in and pick up a Great Careers Start Here brochure for a complete schedule by semester.

Professional Development Series
* Required for all Business Management, Accounting, Economics, and International Management majors.

Job Search Overview*
Get the information you need on networking, online applications, and using all available resources to land a job. The best workshop to start with - the most important workshop for seniors to attend! Offered twice per semester.

Résumé & Cover Letter Workshop*
Make a positive first impression with a distinctive résumé and well-written cover letter. Learn do's and don'ts including layout and formatting tips. Offered twice per semester.

Interviewing Strategies Workshop*
Learn interviewing basics and proven techniques to impress employers and highlight your qualifications. Concrete information to help you prepare! Great preparation for interview events. Offered twice per semester.

Dress For Success*
Discover ways to make a positive first impression with advice from the experts! Separate sessions for men and women. Offered once per semester.

Dining Etiquette*
Learn appropriate table manners for a business or professional meal. The first fifty to sign up may attend. Dress professionally!

As part of Student Teaching Seminar, student teachers will receive everything they need to know about finding teaching jobs, applying, interviewing, and landing the job!

Choosing and Applying to Graduate School
Gather information about admission tests, graduate programs, the admission process, and creating a personal timeline to make the process efficient and effective.

How to Get an Internship
Make your education count toward your career! These sessions will help you know where to find internship sites and answer your questions about the internship process.

Making Cent$ of Money
Wondering about money matters after graduation, things like insurance, employee benefits, 401K plans, home mortgages, credit history, flex spending? This session by two Central math professors will help explain it all!

A series of events to help you connect with alumni and employers in specific careers. Watch for at least one every semester.

On-Campus Interviews
A variety of employers come on campus to interview students for employment and internships each year.

Mock Interviews
The more you practice, the better you will become! Get valuable feedback on presenting yourself to employers. Mock interview are scheduled individually for each student. Contact Karen Eilers to set up an interviewer and a time.
