Student Health Services

Don't you just hate it when you feel a cold coming on? Not to worry. Our professional registered nurses are here to help take care of your general medical problems. If ice chips and rest are in your forecast they'll see to it that you get the extra TLC you need to get back to health. The student health service also provides referrals to appropriate specialists as necessary and can assist you with transportation should you need that, too.

Additionally, health education and wellness promotion materials, self-care opportunities and equipment-for-loan can be obtained from the health center.

The following services are available to Central students at no fee or at a reduced cost.

• medical assessments and consultations
• blood pressure screenings
• laboratory tests for a reduced fee (throat culture for strep A; mononucleosis;
  urinary tract infections; anemia, pregnancy and blood glucose – sugar level)
• immunizations for a reduced fee (mantoux tuberculin – tuberculosis; typhoid, tetanus diphtheria, hepatitis A, hepatitis B and meningitis)
• over-the counter medications and supplies for a minimal fee
• health education handouts
• nurse practitioner coverage (Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon)

Student Health Service is available to any student who is registered at Central College and submits a physical exam.

Location

The student health center is located on the first level of Hoffman Hall west. It is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m. No appointment is needed; however, emergencies or urgent problems will take first priority.
