The Ron Schipper Fitness Center
The $2.5-million Ron Schipper Fitness Center was constructed in 1999. Named in honor of College Football Hall of Fame coach Ron Schipper, the building features a 7,200-square foot strength and conditioning area, one of the largest of any college or university in Iowa. The second floor includes a 1,200-square foot multipurpose room for aerobics, cheerleading and pom squad practices.

More than $150,000 has been spent since 1999 for new strength and conditioning equipment. The facility features York free weights, Hammerstrength leverage equipment and Life Fitness selectorized cardiovascular equipment.

Full-time strength and conditioning coordinator Jake Anderson has no coaching responsibilities, making him available for individual assistance for any athlete throughout the year.

Anderson can also tailor sport-specific and position-specific programs that isolate key muscle groups. He also stresses the importance of exercise technique.
