Wrestling | Feb. 12, 2014

PELLA—Central College junior Tyler Lowy (Phoenix, Ariz., Thunderbird HS) retained his No. 9 ranking in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III poll.

Lowy owns a 24-4 overall record after wins over Luther College’s Tyler Walls and William Penn University’s Kyle Soderblom. Lowy scored a 5-0 decision at Decorah Friday night before Tuesday night’s fall in 4:02 at Oskaloosa. He has registered a team-best seven falls, three major decisions and 13 decisions on the season.

Wartburg’s Puna Soriano (No. 4) and Coe’s Donnie Horner (No. 10) are also ranked at 197.

Four Iowa Conference schools are listed in the team rankings. Defending champion Wartburg remains the top-ranked team and has an individually-ranked wrestler at nine weights. Coe is ranked No. 11, while Luther is on its heels at No. 12. Loras has climbed from not ranked two weeks ago to No. 19.

The Dutch (6-10 overall, 1-6 conference) return to P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium for Friday’s Iowa Conference dual finals seventh-place matchup with Simpson College (3-13 overall, 0-7 conference). Central topped the Storm 29-11 last Thursday at Pella.
