PELLA — Central College men’s soccer midfielder Daniel Peacock (senior, Ankeny) was named second team all-Iowa Conference for the fourth consecutive season.
The 2013 co-captain scored two goals on 11 shots and assisted on one more in starting all 19 games for Central. He finishes his career tied for fourth with 77 appearances in a Dutch uniform, scoring three goals and adding eight assists. Peacock was named conference men’s soccer offensive player of the week Oct. 20 following a one goal, one assist performance in a 4-1 win over Buena Vista.
In addition, four Central athletes received honorable mention: defender Brian Fyfe (junior, Clear Lake), forwards Aleksandar Glavas (junior, Loves Park, Ill., Guilford HS) and Mark Hentschel (junior, West Des Moines, Dowling Catholic HS) and goalkeeper Tim Maggard (senior, Los Angeles, Calif., South Torrance HS).
Fyfe made 17 appearances as part of the Central back line. Glavas tied for second in the league in points (25), was third in goals (10) and tied for fifth in assists (five). He led the Dutch in all offensive categories while starting all 19 games. Hentschel made 18 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting on three more. Maggard started 16 games between the pipes, making 63 saves and posting one shutout.
The Dutch secured the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament for the second consecutive year, but were ousted in the first round and finished the regular season with a 9-9-1 overall record.
Peacock and Maggard were two of five seniors to lead Central to a 40-32-5 overall record and four consecutive Iowa Conference tournaments, including a runner-up finish in 2012.
