Dutch women’s golf team tied for third at Luther Invitational

DECORAH-The Central College women’s golf team is tied for third after a first-round 348 at the Luther Fall Invitational.

Junior Taylor Hill (Treynor) led Central at the par-72 Oneota Golf & Country Club with 84, tying for eighth place. Classmate Kelsey Van Tasell (Pella) finished one stroke behind Hill in a tie for 13th.  Rachel Cassens (sophomore, Stockton, Ill.) was the third Dutch finisher with 89, while Chelsey Shuey (sophomore, Ames) finished one stroke behind Cassens. Ali Kallsen (freshman, Hinton) rounded out the lineup with 96. Sophomore Emily Fisher (Wapello) played as an individual and carded 99.

Wartburg leads after the first round with 329. Viterbo University is second with 330 and AIB is tied with Central at 348. Rochelle Beardsley of Wartburg leads the medalist race by one stroke with 79.

Competition continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
