PELLA—For the second straight week, Central College sophomore Mallory Schulenberg (Kansas City, Mo., St. Pius X HS) is the Iowa Conference softball pitcher of the week.

Schulenberg picked up two wins Saturday against Wis.-Platteville and Washington-St. Louis (Mo.) to improve to 6-1 and lower her earned run average to 0.63. She allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two in an 8-0 (5 inn.) shutout against Wis.-Platteville, her third shutout of the year. Schulenberg held Washington-St. Louis scoreless in 2.1 innings and gave up four hits with no walks or strikeouts. She faced loaded bases in the seventh inning but retired the last two hitters for the 7-1 win.

Earlier Schulenberg was also cited as the league’s female athlete of the week.

Central (13-5) plays host to multiple games Friday and Saturday at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field. The Dutch face St. Scholastica (Minn.) in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday before meeting Wis.-Eau Claire Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) at 4 p.m.
