Back-to-back Iowa Conference champions (2012, 2013)
PELLA—For the third consecutive year, the Central College women’s cross country squad has received the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association team academic award while the men honored three individuals.
Central's women hold a collective 3.35 GPA. It’s the fifth time overall the Dutch women have captured the academic honor.
To receive the distinction, a team must have compiled a score at their respective NCAA regional championship and have a cumulative grade point average be 3.1 or better.
Meanwhile, the trio of Cole Decker (freshman, Des Moines, West Des Moines Dowling HS), Brent Ewing (junior, Cincinnati, Centerville HS), and Drew Jackson (sophomore, Johnston) earned USTFCCCA individual academic recognition. Decker is an economics major with a 3.48 GPA. Ewing sports a 3.66 GPA as an exercise science major and Jackson is an environmental science major with a 3.6 GPA.
To receive the distinction, an individual must have placed in the top 35 at his respective NCAA regional championship and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better.
