Central places 43 on fall academic list

General Information | Nov. 16, 2012

PELLA—Central College has 43 student-athletes on the fall sports academic all-Iowa Conference squad.

Three-time men’s soccer all-league honoree Daniel Peacock (junior, Ankeny) is among the Dutch standouts that also excel in the classroom. Also listed are Drew Jackson (sophomore, Johnston) and Brent Ewing (junior, Cincinnati, Centerville HS), members of the men’s cross country squad who helped the Dutch capture their first ever league championship.

To qualify for the distinction, a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standings and achieve a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (4.0).

Central had the third-most honorees among league schools. Wartburg College placed 62 student-athletes while Luther College had 53.

It’s the most student-athletes Central has placed in the last five years. The Dutch had 42 in 2011 and 41 in 2010.
