PELLA--The Central College women's soccer team has taken another step in its climb to the top. For the first time in the program's 18-year history, the Dutch have received votes in the regional rankings.

Central was listed among those schools receiving votes in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's North Region poll. Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) is No. 1 in the region while Iowa Conference rivals  Loras and Wartburg are Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

Central, 11-5-2 overall, is seeded fourth in the six-team Iowa Conference tournament and plays host to fifth-seeded Simpson in a 1 p.m. game Saturday at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field. The tourney determines the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III tournament.

Under second-year coach Mike Kobylinski the Dutch have improved from 2-13-1 in 2010 and 10-7-1 last fall.
