PELLA— The Central College men’s cross country team jumped six spots in the national rankings, moving to No. 24 in the NCAA Division III poll produced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Dutch men placed third in a 26-team field at the Wis.-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational Saturday, behind only No. 6 Wis.-La Crosse and No. 20 Wis.-Platteville.

Haverford (Pa.) upended defending national champion North Central (Ill.) for the top spot, ending their run of 24 consecutive voting weeks ranked No 1. Iowa Conference rival Loras fell two spots to No. 35.

The Dutch are off this weekend before travelling to Cedar Rapids Oct. 27 to contest the Iowa Conference championship meet.
