PELLA— The Central College men’s cross country team has advanced one spot in the national rankings, improving to No. 23 in the NCAA Division III poll produced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Dutch men are coming off a solid showing at the prestigious University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 29. Central placed fourth in the loaded 27-team field and was only seven points out of second place.

Defending champion North Central (Ill.) held the top spot with all eight first-place votes. Iowa Conference foes Loras and Wartburg checked in at 31st and 32nd respectively.

The Dutch are off this weekend and will travel to West Salem, Wis. Oct. 13 for the Wis.-La Crosse Jim Drew/Tori Neubauer Invitational.
