Men's golf | Sept. 29, 2012

ELK RIVER, MINN.— The Central College men’s golf team turned in a season-low 291 Saturday and are in third place in the 18-team field at the Twin Cities Classic.

“The team played really well today,” said coach Chad Green. “I am very happy with the overall score.”

David Watson (sophomore, San Diego, Calif., Patrick Henry HS) shot 3-under-par 69 at the Elk River Golf Club while teammate Justin Livingston (senior, Winterset) shot a 2-under 70.

“David and Justin had a good showing,” Green said. “Justin gave up a few shots at the end, but I am really happy with both scores.”

Drew Osier (senior, Austin, Minn.) scored 75, sophomore Adam Squires (Waterloo, Columbus HS) shot 74 and Mike Maller (junior, Davenport, Central HS) had 85.

Complete individual standings were not yet available.

The 54-hole tournament is played at a different course each day. Sunday’s second round will take place at the Links at North Fork in Ramsey, Minn.

“Tomorrow’s course is wide open,” said Green. “We are taking it one shot and one hole at a time and then letting the birdies come to us.”
