Central sixth in softball rankings

PELLA — The leaders remain the same as the Central College softball team is again No. 6 in the NFCA Division III coaches’ poll.

Defending champion Linfield College (Ore.), suffered a loss to Willamette (Ore.) but retains the top spot with a 34-3 record, followed by Emory University (Ga.) (25-3). Iowa Conference rival Luther College (28-4) is again at No. 4 but Coe College (24-8) tumbled 14 spots to No. 21after dropping four straight games.

Central (25-5) plays host to Simpson College Saturday at 2 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field. It will be Alumni Day as several Central softball players and families return to campus.
