11 NCAA Div. III national team championships
PELLA--Longtime Central fans vividly remember the last-minute goal-line stand that secured a national championship against high-powered Ithaca (N.Y.) in the 1974 Stagg Bowl.
None who were there will ever forget The Shot by Emilie Hanson in the 1993 NCAA Division III women's basketball semifinals before a packed house at P.H. Kuyper Gym, The Miracle in the Mud pulled off by Reid Evans, Joe Ritzert and the Central football team on a soggy afternoon in McMinnville, Ore. in 2000 or The Salem Slam by Kris Hughes and the Dutch softball team in 2003, which capped a frantic five games in two days with a national championship. Now you can see videos of those iconic Central moments and more.
Short video highlights of some of the most memorable moments in Central athletics in the past 40 years are now available in the Tradition section of the Dutch athletics website under Magic Moments.
Thanks to Central web assistant Kelly Schafbuch '11 for her diligence in assembling the video and audio content.
