Women's soccer | Oct. 8, 2011

DUBUQUE—With three quick first-half goals, defending Iowa Conference champion Loras College grabbed an early lead it never gave up in a 5-1 women’s soccer decision over Central College Saturday.

The Duhawks notched goals in the 12th, 17th, and 30th minutes before the Dutch got one back. Sophomore midfielder Julie Wunder (Muscatine) scored her first goal of the season with a one-timer on a short cross from forward Brittany Hinton (freshman, Davenport, West HS) in the 64th minute. Hinton has a team-best five assists.

Loras (11-2 overall, 4-0 conference) added two more goals at the 67 and 74 minute-marks and outshot Central 22-3.

Junior goalkeeper Steph Hasken (Davenport, West HS) played the full 90 minutes and made six saves between the frames.

Central (9-4 overall, 2-2 conference) hosts Luther College (6-6 overall, 2-1 conference) Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex soccer field. The Norse hold a 15-1 advantage in the all-time series.
