CLINTON—The Central College men’s tennis team won all 19 of its matches at the Ashford Invitational individual tournament Saturday.

The Dutch, who had their first practice Monday, captured 10 doubles matches and nine singles matches. Freshman Austin Papenthien (Waunakee, Wis., Edgewood HS) led Central at the No. 1 singles spot and paired with Seth Harris (senior, Waverly, Neb.) in the No. 1 doubles slot.

“I was pleasantly surprised to see how well adjusted the players are to match play already,” assistant coach Nick Rohner said. “It was a really good day. We’ll get rolling early tomorrow to try and get a few matches played before we have to move inside because of rain.”

Other schools competing in the tournament include Ashford Univ., Missouri Valley College, Judson Univ. (Ill.), Univ. of St. Francis (Ill.), Doane College (Neb.) and St. Joseph College (Ind.).
